The initial focus of the task force is to ensure that some 800 individuals age 65+ suffering from chronic medical conditions receive proper nutrition during this emergency period. At the same time, we are also providing funds to provide nutritious foods through our local food pantries and the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, to make sure that they are properly stocked as the  immediate sharp increase in unemployment is straining their inventories.

The Yuba-Sutter Covid-19 Relief Task Force is also consulting with local governmental agencies and non-profits to identify additional needs of our local citizens. Many of those needs can be addressed once we have the food needs met.

We are currently 85% of the way to our current food fundraising goal of $100,000. And, as of April 22, we have distributed about $35,000 to the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank and local food pantries.

The task force is comprised of several organizations working together. They include the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way, the Yuba-Sutter Community Task Force, the 4G Foundation, SAYLove and the Yuba-Sutter Chamber’s “LEADershipYuba-Sutter” class of 2020.  In addition, other local organizations and community leaders are part of the operation of the task force.
