Urgent Fundraising Appeal

A Message from our Executive Committee:

The COVID-19 pandemic has upset all our lives and that of most businesses, including the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way.
 

We are faced with a tremendous loss in revenue due to the loss of or drastic downscaling of the four fundraisers we conduct each year and the one-year postponement of the debut of our new “Born Learning Academy” program in local schools.
 

This means potentially a 50% loss in income from now through March of 2021.

Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way, in its 53-year history, has been a leader in supporting the efforts of more than 100 worthy local causes and has brightened the lives of many thousands of residents through our programs and the programs of other organizations which we financially support.

We have greatly down scaled our cost of operations, including payroll cuts, program funding cuts and office costs. We have also qualified for a modest federal EIDL loan and Paycheck Protection Program funding.
 

With all the potential known income and minimized expenses, we remain at a forecast deficit of $65,000 over the next nine months after which we deeply hope there is an effective vaccine to nearly eradicate this potent virus to allow us to again begin normal operations.

Your Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way, over the past six years, has provided $1.2 million to feed and shelter people in our community through our hands-on management of the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program grants and through our local Summer Cash for Food Drives and November Turkey Drives. We have provided nearly $400,000 in community impact grants to worthy local non-profit programs. We have handled more than 3,000 calls for assistance from our residents looking for food, shelter, help with utility bills, help with rent and many other issues.

Most recently, your Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way has been a lead organization in the “Yuba-Sutter COVID-19 Relief Task Force” which raised over $100,000 and over 100,000 pounds of food for the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank and 25 local food pantries in just ten weeks.
 

Simply put, your gift today will help sustain an organization which has been a leader in working to provide vital day-to-day necessities to neighbors in need and support to programs to assist raising them out of poverty.
