Yuba-Sutter Salvation Army
“Doing the Most Good”

“Doing the Most Good” is not only the motto of the Yuba-Sutter Salvation Army, it is what Corps members strive for every day. Helping the broken and less fortunate is the mission, but making life long positive change for others is Corps members’ passion. Guided and motivated by the Christian Gospel, Corps members rebuild the lives of thousands in the Yuba Sutter communities.

Successful programs, such as the Depot Family Crisis Center provides transitional housing for homeless individuals and families. Housing is a part of the program, but intensive counseling, life skills, job readiness, and substance abuse counseling meet many of the needs necessary for individuals to become self-sufficient in the future.

The Depot’s high rate of success for assisting individuals and families into self-sufficiency is one of the highest success rates in the state.
•    Family Services provides emergency food and referrals for other services that are geared to assist individuals in getting back on their feet.
•    The Open Door Program is an outreach program designed to assist homeless and/or individuals dealing with mental health issues. Assistance with everyday needs or long term structured guidance helps many to lead a better life.
•    The Teen Program continues to give teens in the community a safe place to be, to be accepted and nurtured.
•    The Thrift Store is an integral part of generating funds necessary to carry out the tasks of the Salvation Army.
•    Fund raising activities and donations are crucial to continue the hard work, and volunteers are always welcomed with open arms.

In 2015, a strong effort will be made to take the mission of the Salvation Army to the out-lying areas of Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties.
